Objective The female patients with advanced mammary cancer commonly suffer from serious psychological problem.The aim of this study is to explore the function of rational emotive behavior therapy in psychological intervention in order to improve their psychological stress response capacity and quality of life.
Methods A total of 126 female patients with advanced mammary cancer in our department were divided into experiment group and control group,the normal nursing was given to all patients,and mental nursing of rational emotive behavior was additional given to the patients of experiment group.Symptom checklist 90,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and World Health Organization Quality of Life-100 were adopted to evaluate the mental condition,personality and living quality.
Results The rational emotive behavior therapy had improved the mental state of patients such as somatization,force,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety and terror etc.,the number of positive factor in SCL-90 reduced 3.2±1.4 in the experimental group and 2.0±0.9 in the control group,the improvement of total average was 1.7±0.6 in the experimental group and 0.7±0.4 in the control group.The rational emotive behavior therapy had also improved the introverted,emotional instability and psychoticism,as well as the quality of life such as psychological,independence,social relation and mental support.The total score of WHOQOL-100 was 43.1±7.2 in the experimental group and 27.2±8.3 in the control group.
Conclusion The reasonable emotion therapy could obviously improve the mental state and quality of life in patients with advanced breast cancer,and is worthy of popularization and application in psychological therapy.
