  • Objective To prevent and reduce the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infection by spraying the JUC on the catheter surface and surrounding tissue of urethral orifice, and using anti- reflux drainage bag. Methods Patients who met the criteria of the experiment were randomly divided into control and experimental groups, each group selected 50 cases.Control group were treated with conventional catheterization care and general drainage bags, drainage bag replaced once a day.Experimental group were treated by spraying the JUC on the catheter surface, the external urethral orifice, the glans and the foreskin on the basis of conventional catheterization care, and using anti-reflux drainage bag which replaced once a week according to the instruction manual.Comparison of the results of urine culture of bladder between the experimental and control groups on day 3 and 7. Results Positive bacterial culture of control group were 12 on day 3 and 30 on day 7,there were respectively 5 and 8 in the experimental group.Compared with the control group, the infection rates of catheterization in the experimental group was significantly lower. The difference between the experimental and control groups was statistically significant in the positive rate of overall, three days and seven days(P<0.05).There was statistically significant between difference of the positive rate of three days and seven days in the control group(P<0.05),but the difference between the positive rate of three days and seven days was not statistically significant in the experimental group(P>0.05). Conclusion Spraying the JUC on the catheter surface and surrounding tissue of urethral orifice, and using anti-reflux drainage bag,can significantly reduce the positive rate of bladder urine bacterial culture in patients with catheterization, suggesting it can prevent and reduce the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infection, and the effect can be maintained for more than seven days. But with prolonged indwelling catheterization time, the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infection was significantly higher.
