Objective To investigate the relationship between the levels of homocysteine(Hcy) and macroangiopathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods Total 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in our hospital between January 2012 and December 2013 were divide into simple diabetes mellitus group(DM1,40 cases) and macroangiopathy group(DM2,40 cases) according to the microvascular complication of diabetes,40 healthy subjects were recruited as the control group. The basic information of patients and serum biochemical indexes were reviewed.Regression analysis was conducted to determine the risk factors of microvascular complication of diabetes among Age,C-peptide,blood lipids, blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin(HBA1C),triglycerides(TG),cholesterol(TC) and Hcy.
Results The level of Hcy in the DM1 group was not obviously higher than that in the control group(
P>0.05);The level of Hcy in the DM2 group were significantly higher than that in the DM1 and control group, the difference was statistical significant (
P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that C-peptide,TG,TC,HbA1c and Hcy were related to the atherosclerosis.
Conclusion The levels of Hcy is correlated to Macroangiopathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and high homocysteine is one of the important independent risk factors for the microvascular complication.
