Objective To investigate the effect,as well as the deficiencies of the visiting doctor services in community health service centers and propose suggestions for improvements.
Methods The visiting services teams were composed of general practitioners,community nurses,health workers and pharmacists who had received the necessary training.The teams,with hemopiezometer,electrocardiograph,fast blood glucose meter and some common drugs,carried out the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases,diabetes and other chronic disease management,elderly residents health management,health education and so on,in the incorporated villages within the jurisdiction.The statistical data from the visiting doctor services and the data obtained from outpatient and emergency between 2012 and 2014 was analyzed and compared.
Results The times of visiting services and the number of participants increased year by year.Among the patients who were visited,the rate of elderly people aged above 60 was higher when compared with the patients from outpatient and emergency.In the past three years,the proportion of participating in health management and chronic disease management kept rising.The resident satisfaction with health service was improved obviously.
Conclusion The visiting doctor services mode can decrease the human labor cost of community health organizations,promote the health management and chronic disease management.This medical pattern,with the characteristic of long-term stability and sustainability,is especially suited for the mountainous area where the old people left behind when compared with the expert inspection mode.The visiting doctor services combined with the health management works that taken by community health agency can provide the flexible services according to the needs of visited subjects and residents.The program also meets some problems such as less medical service items,insufficiency of drug supply,increasing transportation cost,et al.
