Objective To investigate the effect of standardized nursing care on protection of skin from radiation lesions in breast cancer patients.
Method Total 165 breast cancer patients with postoperative radiation-induced skin reactions were enrolled and divided into observation group(83 cases) and the control group(82 cases). There was no significant difference in the age and other baseline information between the two groups. The control group received the routine postoperative nursing for breast cancer, while the observation group received the standardized nursing care based on the routine nursing, which included skin care, diet guidance, health education and psychological counseling. The overall efficacy, nursing efficiency and QLQ-C30 scores were observed and compared between the two groups.
Results There no significant difference in the ratio of radiation-induced skin between the two groups. After the nursing intervention, the improvement of skin reactions in the observation group was significant better than the control group(64.63% vs. 79.51%),
P<0.05).Two overall health score of QLQ-C30 scale in patients with nursing in nursing after than before obviously increased. At the same time as compared with the control group, the observation group nursing after the score improved more obviously(
P<0.05).The overall health score in both groups were improved after the nursing intervention, especially in the observation group(
P<0.05).
Conclusion The standardized nursing care can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with breast cancer undergoing the radiotherapy.
