Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of 2% Fusidic acid cream and 2% Mupirocin Ointment in the treatment of children facial impetigo and to provide the evidence for clinic using.
Methods Children with Facial Impetigo came from out-patients clinic from April,2014 to February,2015 were enrolled in our study. Children were divided into two groups according with random number table. The 2% Fusidic acid cream was applied topically to the facial infected area twice daily in one group and 2% Mupirocin Ointment was in another in same way. The response was assessed and side-effect was recorded by designated doctor after 4 days and 7 days.
Results A total of 116 children with facial impetigo entered into final analysis. There is no statistical difference of two groups in gender,age,lesion number,lesion areas and course of disease. The effect rate was 86. 67% in Fusidic acid cream group and 82. 14% in Mupirocin group after 4days and it was 96. 67% in Fusidic acid group and 92. 85% in Mupirocin group after 7 days. The comparing results showed that there is no significant effective in two groups. No children were to terminate treatment because of adverse reactions. Only a few children have mild discomfort in treatment areas.
Conclusion It is satisfactory clinical efficacy and safety when 2% Fusidic acid cream was treated topically in facial impetigo. 2% Fusidic acid cream applying topically will be a prior method for treatment to facial impetigo.
