Objective To teach general medical students to learn methods and means of individualized health education during the stage of their community practice, observe changes of knowledge and skills before and after practicing,evaluate the effect,and,explore the training mode of community practice,improve the teaching ability and comprehensive quality of the teachers.
Methods A total of 120 general medical students,who came from the Fifth Clinical College of Chongqing Medical University,participated five-stage training mode during August,2013 to June,2015.The questionnaire survey and examinations were conducted before and after training.
Results After the five-stage training,the test score in importance of individual health education,theoretical knowledge,and operational skills of the students changed significantly(
P<0.05).Before the practice,the theory test score was 70.83%,after was 93.33%.The average score of the pre-operation examination was 63.22±2.89,after was 88.74±3.79.Only 54.2% of the students considered that the health education was important in the community,but after was 90.7%.
Conclusion The five-stage training helps general medical students to master the individualized health education knowledge and skills,enhances teaching ability and comprehensive quality of community general practice teachers,and provides a effective training model.
