Objective To explore the impact of examiner competition mode in clinical training and developing the core competence of general practitioner.
Methods During the past two years,the model combined with examiner competition and annual appraisal for standardized training of personnel were adopt in the clinical teacher training and on-site student training in our hospital.According to Shanghai Resident Standardization Training Clinical Criteria of Assessment,considering core ability of physicians,the examiner competition was designed(including competition procedure rules);in reference to mini-CEX test,the competition score table and examiner's evaluation form for students were designed.Both internal and external teaching supervision experts were invited as judge for this contest.Examiners were selected based on the internal preliminary contest.The cases for the assessment were selected by the examiners from the real case of illness.The students taking part in the general practitioner education and training were chosen as standardizationpatients.General practitioners who had already received the training over 1 year participated in this competition,and the result was recorded as the skill assessment score for the current year.After the competition,experts group gave a summary of merit and demerit.Examiners shared their participating testimonials.Teaching supervision expert discussed along with examiners to improve the assessment case.Hospital leader who takes charge in the education gave a summary report and raised the improvement measure and education requests.In this process,the competition mode,content,and experience were applied to the clinical teaching and examination.
Results The qualified rate of training students in all kinds of test and practice test inside and outside hospital were significantly.In 2015,the qualified rate of trained students in the first attending medical licensing examination was 100%.
Conclusion Examiners competition mode can improve the effect of general practitioner training and learning.It is worth for reference and promotion in general practitioners training.
