The expression and clinical significance of Beclin1 and p62 in colon cancer tissue

Objective To evaluate the expression and clinical significance of Beclin1 and p62 in colon cancer tissue. Methods Forty two patients with colon cancer were selected for this study.All the included patients are collected the cancer tissue and the normal colon tissue.Immunohistochemical staining was performed to test the expression of Beclin1 and p62.Five-year survival rate was recorded and the Cox regression analysis was conducted to analyses the risk factor for cancer death. Results The expression of Beclin1 is higher in the patients that CEA ≥ 5 ng/ml,normal tissue and the T1-T2 phase than that in CEA<5 ng/ml,cancer tissue and T3-T4 phase.The difference was significant difference (P<0.05).And the p62 expression is higher in the cancer tissue than that of normal tissue,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The Cox regression analysis indicated that the p62 is the risk factor for cancer death,and combined administration p62 with Beclin1 is the predicable factor for the cancer patient survival.SPSS 20.0 was used for statistically analyses and P<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Conclusion The autophagy activity in colon cancer is decreased and the Beclin1 was correlated with the CEA level and depth of tumor invasion.Combined Beclin1 with p62 can be better predicting the colon cancer prognosis.
