Objective To analyze the relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor-A(VEGF-A) expressions and the density of Lymphatic vessel and micro vessel(LVD and MVD).
Methods A total number of 79 patients with colorectal cancer in our hospital from 2011 to 2015,including 52 cases of rectal carcinoma and 27 cases of colon carcinoma, were collected. The connection between the clinical pathological features and the value of LVD,the relationship between the expressions of VEGF-A and the levels of MVD and LVD,the relationship between LVD and MVD were analyzed.
Results The value of LVD in normal tissues was obviously lower than that in colon cancer tissues.LVD had close correlation with lymphatic vessel tumor thrombus(
P<0.05),had no correlation with lymph node metastasis,TNM stage, differentiation degree and depth of invasion of colorectal cancer(
P>0.05).The expression of VEGF-A in tumor tissues had close correlation with MVD(CD34 count),
P<0.05,but had no correlation with LVD(podoplanin count),
P>0.05.The value of LVD was obviously lower than MVD in colon cancer(
P<0.01).But LVD count had no correlation with MVD count(
P>0.05).
Conclusion The lymphatic formation plays an important role in the whole development process of colorectal cancer.Micro vessel formation and lymphatic formation may be two processes that are independent of each other. The VEGF-A has induction effect on micro vessel formation in colorectal cancer, but it has no correlation with lymphatic formation.LVD value is obviously lower than MVD value in colorectal cancer, but their relationship is not obvious.
