Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levetiracetam in combination with family intervention in the treatment of epilepsy in children.
Methods Eighty cases with epilepsy enrolled in our hospital from January,2013 to March,2016 were randomly divided into the control group and observation group The age, course of disease and type of seizure had no statistical differences between the two groups. Two groups were treated with levetiracetam which was orally administered at the dose of 10 mg/kg taken twice daily,in the morning and evening.According to clinical efficacy and tolerability the dose was gradually increased to 30 mg/(kg·d).Therapist should try to use the lowest effective dose to control seizures. The observation group on this basis was given family-style intervention, and the two groups were treated for 3 months. The clinical efficacy, cognitive function and quality of life scores of the two groups were compared and the incidence of adverse reactions were observed and recorded.
Results After the treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 87.50%,higher than the control group 70.00%,with a statistical significance(
P<0.05).The quality of life scores in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(
P<0.05).After the treatment, the IQ,VIQ,PIQ,FIQ scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(
P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(
P>0.05).
Conclusion Levetiracetam combined with family intervention can significantly improve the clinical efficacy of children epilepsy, improve the quality of life of children, improve cognitive scores in children, and fewer adverse reactions, thus safer and worthy of clinical application.
