Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM reducing fever and promoting blood circulation method combined with celecoxib in the treatment of gouty arthritis.
Methods Total of 104 patients with gouty arthritis in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into two groups with 52 cases in each group. The control group received celecoxib treatment, while the treatment group received additional TCM reducing fever and promoting blood circulation method. The course was 7 days in both groups. After the treatment, the curative effect,VAS score on d1,d3,d5 and d7,joint swelling and pain lasted time were observed, and the WBC count, levels of tumor necrosis factor-α and C reactive protein, and incidence of adverse reaction were compared.
Results The cure rate, excellence rate and overall response rate were 26.9%,46.2% and 96.2%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those in the control group (
P<0.05).The VAS score at d5 and d7 were 1.31±0.31 and 0.41±0.13 in the treatment group, respectively, which was significantly lower than those in the control group (
P<0.05).WBC counts, the levels of tumor necrosis factor and C reactive protein were (6.82±1.53)×10
9/L,(63.2±4.4) pg/ml and (12.9±1.6) mg/L in the treatment group, respectively, which were obviously lower than those in the control group (
P<0.05).There was no serious adverse action in both two groups.
Conclusion TCM reducing fever and promoting blood circulation method combined with celecoxib in the treatment of gouty arthritis is effective and safe, which worth to be studied in clinic.
