Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Chinese medicinal herb soup assisted with routine western medicine in the treatment of recurrent oral ulceration(ROU).
Methods Total 154 cases of recurrent oral ulcer in our department from January 2011 to December 2013 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, each group 77 case. The patients in the control group were given conventional western medicine, while the patients in the observation group were added Chinese medicinal herb soup. After one month treatment, the efficacy, healing ulcer time, pain time, pain level and adverse reaction of both groups were observed. All data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 statistical software.
Results The recently and long-term total effective rate of observation group were 97.4% and 85.7%,which were significantly higher than that of control group (85.7% and 67.5%),the differences were statistically significant(
P<0.05).The healing ulcer time, pain time, pain level of the observation group were (4.45±1.8)d,(3.1±1.3)d,(12.3±4.8) score, which were significantly higher than that of control group[(7.09±2.3)d,(5.4±1.7)d,(25.1±6.9) score],the differences were statistically significant(
P<0.05).There was no significant differences of two groups on adverse reaction rates(
P>0.05).
Conclusion Based on conventional western medicine,Chinese medicinal herb soup in treatment of recurrent oral ulcer can significantly shorten disease course, relieve pain, and enhance clinical efficacy.
