Curative effect and influence on quality of life of aripiprazole combined music therapy in treatment of schizophrenia

Objective To study the curative effect and influence on quality of life of aripiprazole combined with music therapy in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia and depression. Methods Total 170 cases of schizophrenia with depression in our hospital between January 2012 and January 2014 were recruited randomly divided into observation group and control group with 85 cases in each group.The observation group received aripiprazole combined with music therapy,while the control group received aripiprazole therapy.The positive and negative symptoms scale(PANSS),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),clinical general impression scale(CGI-SI) and the quality of life scale score(QOL-100) between the two groups were compared before the treatment and 4,12,24 weeks after the treatment. Results The PANSS scores,negative symptom scores,positive symptom scores and general pathological score of both groups before the treatment had no significant difference(P＞0.05).PANSS scores,negative symptom scores,positive symptom scores and general pathology score for 12 weeks and 24 weeks after the treatment in the two groups as compared with before and 4 weeks after treatment was statistically significant,and the improvement in the observation group was more obvious,the comparison between the two groups with statistical significance(P＜0.05).HAMD scores and CGI-SI score in both groups before the treatment had no significant difference(P＞0.05).HAMD score in the observation group for 12 and 24 weeks after the treatment and CGI-SI score 4 weeks after the treatment were significantly better than that of the control group(P＜0.05).When compared with before treatment,the scores of both groups after the treatment were significantly better,the difference was statistically significant between groups(P＜0.05).Before the treatment,QOL-100 score had no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P＞0.05),24 weeks after the treatment the scores of both groups were all obviously improved than that before the treatment(P＜0.05),and the observation group was better than the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion Aripiprazole combined with music therapy for patients with schizophrenia and depression is effective and can obviously improve the clinical symptoms,mental status and quality of life of patients,and is worth popularization and application in the clinical practice.
