Objective To study the application value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in biopsy for tuberculous abscess of the abdominal walls and improve the rate of intact tissue and positive pathology results.
Methods The 66 hospitalized patients(24 male cases,42 female cases)with abdominal mass in our hospital were selected in September,2013 to November,2015 and divided into 2 groups.The group A(23 patients including 8 male and 15 female cases) received the real-time ultrasound guided biopsy between September,2013 and February,2014.The group B(43 patients including 16 male and 27 female cases) received contrast-enhanced ultrasound to determine the materials area and then the ultrasound guided biopsy between February 2014 and November 2015.Target areas were contrast enhanced filling area and small part of no enhance area for abdominal mass part enhanced;contrast enhancement area for bump completely enhanced.All data was analyzed using SPSS version 13.0 software.The qualitative data were analyzed with chi-square test;
P values less than 0.05 were reported as statistically significant.
Results Group A included 1 case of metastatic carcinoma,1 case of hematoma,21 cases of abdominal wall tuberculosis,the rate of intact tissue was 47.8% and the positive results of pathology examination was 82.6%;Group B included 2 cases of metastatic carcinoma,1 cases of abdominal wall sebaceous glands cyst with infection,and 40 cases of abdominal wall tuberculosis;The contrast-enhanced ultrasound prompted the abdominal masses enhanced all in 8 cases,abdominal mass enhanced partly in 35 cases.The rate of intact tissue was 90.7% and the positive results of pathology examination was 100%,which was obviously improved as compared with group A.Chi square value were 15.00 and 5.20,
P<0.05.
Conclusion The application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound before the biopsy for tuberculous abscess of the abdominal walls can obviously improve the rate of intact tissue and positive pathology results.
