Objective To observe the effectiveness of implementation of continuous quality improvement(CQI) in health care for patients in veteran cadres ward.
Methods A total of 120 patients in the veteran cadres ward of our hospital between August 2013 August and 2015 were randomly divided into intervention group and control group with 60 cases in each group. The intervention group received CQI,while the control group received the routine nursing intervention. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale(PSQI),activities of daily living scores(BI rate) and the Quality of Life Scale(SQLS)score were used for assessment of sleep quality and lift quality of patients in both groups. The patient satisfaction with skills,accountability model and attitude of nurses,psychological and other aspects of nursing practice was also investigated.
Results The difference of PSQI score,BI rate and SQLS score before nursing intervention between the two groups was not statistically significant(P > 0. 05); After nursing intervention,PSQI score,BI rate and SQLS score in the intervention group were(36. 8 ±7. 2) points,(76. 2 ±8. 5) points and(72. 8 ±5. 2) points,respectively,and in the control group was(49. 7 ±11. 4) points,(59. 4 ±7. 7) points and(56. 5 ±6. 8) points,respectively,the difference was statistically significant(
P < 0. 05); The satisfaction with nurses skills,accountability model,attitude and mental nursing practice in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group(
P < 0. 05).
Conclusion The implementation of CQI in veteran cadres ward can effectively improve the quality of sleep of patients,improve their activities of daily living,satisfaction with nursing care was significantly higher,worth for further promotion on clinical practice.
