  • Objective To investigate the disinfection effects for the wall mounted medical oxygen system in hospital and compare the disinfection costs,so as to provide disinfection data for the control of nosocomial infection. Methods A total of 120 wall mounted medical oxygen system in four wards of our hospital were randomized into 4 groups:control group, observation group 1,observation group 2 and observation group 3.For disinfection, normal saline was used in the control group,75% alcohol was used in the observation group 1 500 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant solution was used in the observation group 2,and chlorhexidine gluconate (3MTM AvagardTM) fast disinfectant solution was used in the observation group 3.The positive rate of pathogenic bacteria before and after disinfection, and the type of pathogenic bacteria after disinfection and the price of disinfectant were compared among different groups. The disinfection costs of all the groups were calculated and compared. Results Before the disinfection, there was no significant difference in the positive rate of pathogenic bacteria among 4 groups (P>0.05).After the disinfection, the positive rate of pathogenic bacteria was significantly decreased in 3 observation groups (P<0.01),but there was no significant difference in that of control group(P>0.05).After the disinfection, the observation group 3,observation group 2,observation group 1 and control group demonstrated positive rates of pathogenic bacteria from low to high, and there was significant difference among 4 groups(P<0.01).In the control group, cocci and bacilli bacteria survived after the disinfection, but the number of cocci and bacilli bacteria was significantly decreased in all the three observation groups(P<0.05),and there was significant difference among 3 groups(P<0.05).As for the disinfections costs,75% alcohol of the same volume had the lowest price, followed by chlorine-containing disinfectant solution, while the Avagard disinfectant solution had the highest price but the best disinfection effects, and there was significant difference among these 3 groups(P<0.01). Conclusion s Three types of disinfectant solution can all achieve the purpose of disinfection, but they all have advantages and disadvantages.Chlorhexidine gluconate fast disinfectant solution and chlorine-containing disinfectant solution have better effects.Hospitals should choose appropriate disinfection methods based on their economic conditions,so as to achieve the purposes of disinfection and sterilization as well as reducing the nosocomial infection rate.
