Objective To study the effect of clomiphene citrate with human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) on ovulation induction in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Methods Total 100 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome in our hospital between January,2014 and June,2015 were enrolled and divided into control group and observation group with 50 cases in each group. All patients received conventional treatment, lifestyle modification, calcium and vitamin D,oral ethinylestradiol cyproterone tablet for 3 months;oral metformin treatment for the patients with diabetes. The control group received clomiphene citrate treatment, while the observation group received additional HMG treatment. The ovulation (ovarian volume, high quality follicle number and number of sinus follicle),endocrine (T,LH,FSH),pregnancies (pregnancy rate, miscarriage rate and the rate of multiple pregnancy) and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
Results The ovarian volume and the number of sinus follicle of the observation group were significantly less than those of the control group (8.39±0.74 vs.11.01±1.08;7.23±0.76 vs.9.44±0.83),the difference was statistically significant (
P<0.01),but there was no significant difference in high quality follicle number between the two groups (
P>0.05).The levels of FSH,LH and T in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (
P<0.01).The pregnancy rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (38.00% vs.20.00%),the difference was statistically significant (
P<0.05),but in the abortion rate and multiple pregnancy rate was not statistical significance (
P>0.05).The differences in adverse reactions between the two groups was not statistical significance (
P>0.05).
Conclusion Clomiphene citrate with HMG for polycystic ovary syndrome can stimulate ovulation with a good effect.
