  • Objective To investigate the changes of soluble E-selectin(sE-selectin) levels in patients with community acquired pneumonia and its significance. Methods We collected 50 patients with community-acquired severe pneumonia as severe pneumonia group,50 patients with community-acquired non-severe pneumonia as non-severe pneumonia group, and 50 healthy subjects as control group. The severe pneumonia group patients were divided into multiple organ dysfunction group and non-multiple organ dysfunction group. The serum sE-selectin,C-reactive protein, and white blood cell count were measured. Results The serum sE-selectin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count in severe pneumonia group,non-severe pneumonia group and control group were (41.23±10.78)ng/ml,(85.47±21.14)ng/ml,(18.35±4.21)×109/L;(13.25±3.84)ng/ml,(43.25±12.15)ng/ml,(12.01±2.87)×109/L;(5.64±1.42)ng/ml,(2.12±0.89)ng/ml,(6.57±2.02)×109/L,and the difference among the groups were significant(P<0.05).The serum sE-selectin in the multiple organ dysfunction group and non-multiple organ dysfunction group were (53.14±12.53)ng/ml and (37.28±8.21) ng/ml,with statistical significance among groups (P<0.05).The levels of serum sE-selectin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count before and after treatment in severe pneumonia group were (41.23±10.78)ng/ml,(85.47±21.14)ng/ml,(18.35±4.21)×109/L;(18.74±5.84)ng/ml,(12.96±5.12)ng/ml,(8.83±2.52)×109/L respectively, and the difference between the two groups were significant(P<0.05).The serum sE-selectin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count in the non-severe pneumonia group before and after treatment were (13.25±3.84)ng/ml,(43.25±12.15)ng/ml,(12.01±2.87)×109/L;(9.13±1.56)ng/ml,(9.16±2.04)ng/ml,(6.85±2.31)×109/L,and the difference between the two groups were significant(P<0.05).The serum sE-selectin was positively correlated with C-reactive protein and white blood cell count(P<0.05). Conclusion The serum sE-selectin level is elevated in patients with community-acquired pneumonia, and the serum sE-selectin level is associated with the severity of community-acquired pneumonia and the therapeutic effect.
